Evangelism and Local Outreach

Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus is a non-negotiable for every believer.

It is not a calling for some, it is a commission for all who identify with Christ. At Southern Seminary, you will be saturated with gospel training so that you are fully equipped to present the gospel to anyone, anywhere, at any length.

The skills taught in the classroom will be pressed into instincts by the opportunities to proclaim Christ in the surrounding area. Join with the faculty and staff of Southern in preaching in a homeless shelter, counseling in a crisis pregnancy center, teaching ESL, street evangelism, serving as a chaplain for local High School sports teams, and many more.

Preach the Word

On April 23, 2017, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will continue our annual one-day initiative, Preach the Word. The goal is to serve the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention by sending out students throughout the United States to “Preach the Word.”

All across the United States, the churches of the SBC proclaim the Word of God from their pulpit and support the work of God through the Cooperative Program. Their Cooperative Program giving is invested in the seminary training of the next generation of church leaders. When a church participates in Preach the Word, they will see firsthand how their gifts are used to train and equip those who have been called into ministry.
