Missions Conference
The Bevin Center for Missions Mobilization (BCMM) will host a major missions conference each year featuring speakers from the International Mission Board (IMB) and churches who do exemplary missions work.
Training Events
The BCMM will host a training event once a month during each semester in order to expose students to cutting-edge missiology. Topics will include creative access strategies, business as mission, orality, chronological Bible storying, ethnographic research, cross-cultural theological education and leadership training, disaster relief, and community development.
Affinity Group Fellowships
The BCMM will host Affinity Group Fellowships (e.g. Central Asia Fellowship, Sub-Saharan Africa Fellowship, North American Urban Fellowship) in conjunction with the IMB and the North American Mission Board. These fellowships will provide a time of prayer, encouragement and information sharing for students interested in these global affinity groups and will serve as significant recruitment bases for both short and long term missions involvement.
Missions Week
The BCMM will host a mission emphasis week for the seminary community each academic year. The week will feature an influential mission speaker for chapel and other seminary venues, alongside daily and nightly mission activities.
Missions Prayer
During Missions Week, the BCMM will host a brief prayer meeting for missions every day that classes are in session. Professors will be encouraged to incorporate missions concerns into their prayer at the start of each class, and the BCMM will provide them with current mission prayer concerns on a regular basis.
Cultural Immersion Experience
The BCMM will host a cultural immersion experience each semester. The center will partner with local ethnic ministries and visit places ofworship, ethnic grocery stores, community centers and ethnic neighborhoods to see firsthand the challenges of ethnic ministry in the city of Louisville.
Mission Trips
The BCMM will organize mission trips by members of the seminary community to a variety of strategic locations around the world and in North America.
The center will choose mission trip destinations, recruit, screen and train participants in these trips, select and train leaders for these mission teams, provide logistical preparation and support, and debrief team members after their return.
Missionaries in Residence
The BCMM will invite and host at least one missionary/missionary couple to serve as missionaries in residence (MIRs) each year. These MIRs will recruit for missions, provide mentoring and fellowship opportunities for students, and will be available to speak in classrooms and participate in training events throughout the year.
5k Run
The BCMM will promote and host the annual 5K Run to raise money for short-term missions teams.
